Well, the move occurred on the week-end and so that is where I have been but I am back now!
It was quite the week-end I must say!I went on the bus on Thursday morning (After majorly sleeping in and only having half an hour to get out of my apartment so no shower[em]sad[/em]) and had lunch with my parents...A sub from the local sub shop! We had a lot of business to do that day...The Lawyers Office, The Bank, The Insurance Broker, The Real Estate Office and Mom had to be to work for 3PMOnce we got Mom to work we went back to the farm and I asked Dad for boxes so that I could finish packing the kitchen....Only, there were just two boxes left and I couldn't get all that was left of the kitchen into those boxes so I had to just fill them and stop, waiting until we went to get Mom from work to get more boxes!Late at night when we got Mom home from work and had the boxes...Mom and I packed up a few more boxes and then we went to bed...The last night in the old farm house...The next Morning we finished and taped up boxes. We were ready to...
| | My son is turning 11 on Monday | | We are having a birthday party for him tonight - he is having 4 friends over for pizza, popcorn, ice cream cake, movies and a sleepover. I have prizes to give out for each of the movies (I`ll be asking questions so they have to pay attention, lol).Since there are 5 of them, including my son, I have asked each child to bring a sleeping bag and a pillow - they are going to sleep on the floor in the rec room - it is not a bare floor - it is carpeted and I have some thick comforters to put down as well if needed. Some of the people I work with were shocked that I was `making` them sleep on the floor! When you were a kid at a sleepover, where did you sleep? We slept on floors, in tents and even in playhouses! It didn't kill us and none of the parents are objecting. I was surprised at their reaction. What do you think??Lexaiting until we went to get Mom from work to get more boxes!Late at night when we got Mom home from work and had the boxes...Mom and I packed up a few more boxes and then we went to bed...The last night in the old farm house...The next Morning we finished and taped up boxes. We were ready to go for Noon when my Dad... | |
| | That job is beneath me, but the food pantry isn't | | My hubby and I have a couple we have become quite close to. They have four kids that are in the age range of ours who spend a lot of time at our house. I like this couple but here is my problem. "Jane" lost her job a year ago. Her husband works 60 hours a week to support their family, but his income is not enough. He continuosly tells "Jane" she needs to get a job, any job to help. "Jane" is a part time student and gets her associates degree next October. In the meantime their house was almost foreclosed on, my parents bought their kids Christmas presents so they would have something under the tree, my husbands parents have bought them gift cards to grocery stores so they can eat, and we have helped out as much as possible, taking the kids for weekends so they can have some "down time", inviting them over for dinner, etc..It hurts to see people we care about going to the food pantry to feed their family.
We got together with this couple over the weekend. They asked if we could take their kids for a week in March so they could go to Vegas. I told them we couldn't, unfortunately, juggling my 2 jobs, my hubby out on work comp and our kids social lives, we just couldn't swing it. In...
| | Bathrooms | | How many bathrooms do you have in your house? We have a main bathroom on the main floor and a bathroom off our master bedroom and a bathroom off the rec room downstairs. Now I like having all these bathrooms so I don't have to go up and down the stairs often, but I hate them because I have three bathrooms to keep clean. I hate a dirty bathroom so I have to wipe them every day. It takes me half an hour every day just to clean my bathrooms. I try to get my hubby to use two of them and to leave the general bathroom alone so it stays clean and it's the one our company uses. It only has a soilet and sink, no bathrub or shower, so he doesn't need to use it. He tries, but forgets sometimes so I still have to check it every day in case he used it. I have a fedish about a clean bathroom. I am a house cleaner by trade so it really bothers me to see a dirty bathroom. Am I obsessed or what? My hubby thinks so. | |
| | Recycle day. | | Now I forgot what day it is. Not that it is Thursday but that it is garbage day. I finally realized because I noticed people have their bins out front. So I had to scamble around and pick up all the recycle coke bottles and cans and pick up all the garbage bags in the bathrooms and den and basement rec room. I finally gathered it all together and took it all out to my garage, many trips, and put the garbage in the garbage can and the recycleables in the recycle bin and open the garage door to take them all out. I am dragging them out and I notice down the street is the garbage truck, gone past the house. I try to yell out to them but they don't hear me because they are too far away. So I drag the garbage bin back into the garage and just take out the recycle bin because it is picked up by a different truck and I noticed that the neighbours recycle bin is still full so I know that truck hasn't been here yet. So much trouble to take out the garbage. I am a little bit mad at my hubby because this is supposed to be his job and he should have done it before he went to work this morning at 5:30. Oh well, so the garbage will have to wait another week. At least I got the recyle bin out in... | |
| | What Do You Really Use Your Garage For? | | We have a three-car garage but we only have room for one car. My son has created a sort of rec-room in one of the spaces. It's a nice gathering spot for the neighbor kids. Then the perimeter has become a sort of library--book shelves and everything. There's a fridge to the right with another stand alone freezer next to it, and then of course, there's boxes of stuff. Stuff I forgot to label. We have room for one car. How's your garage space? | |
| | Would you retain an attorney? | | Hi MyLotters! I know it's been awhile but life has been insane. Anyway, I have a serious question and am hoping for help. The area I live in experienced some crazy rain last night. A big portion of our city flooded, and so did the lower level of my house. Hubby and I were ticked becaue we had a storm like this 11 months ago, before we owned the house and the owner then told us he never had a problem with rain and leakage in the basement. We're talking 6 inches of water here people. Anyway, when we had the house inspected there did appear to be some old signs of leakage, which we asked about, and the answer was if we make sure the back rain spout stays on there is no issue. WE specifically asked if we finished the lower level (the drywall was already up, it is an exposed bi level)to put another bedroon down there and a rec room if it would be fine, and the seller said yes. Signed a disclosure saying so. He had lived here 16 years, so we took his word. Well, we were tearing up brand new carpet today, and hubby had to remove some trim. Behind the trim was mold. So we tore out part of the wall and to our amazement not only were the walls moldy, there was rot where the foundation met... | |
| | EEEEKKKK!!! I have a mouse in the house!!! | | I was sitting in the rec room in my basement, there is one small section of the basement thats not completed, we just house the ordinary things out there like the lawn mower, BBQ, gardening tools, chistmas decorations etc...and this little brown mouse walked out across the floor as if he owned the place...I was mortified and I just sat there, he stood up on his back feet and just looked at me...I have never had a mouse before...
He didn't scare me in the least, in a job I worked we had mice running around all over the place..lol..it was an everyday thing to see one...warehouse work...in case you are wondering...haha!!I don't just want to kill him, he looks so cute, my daughter owns two hamsters and I cant imagine ever hurting one of them, Is there a way I can catch this little fellow that has evaded my home and set him free??..
| | The Sims 2 Home Crafter | | It can be downloaded from the website. I made my first wallpaper for houses in the game. One is a Rolling Stones wall covering for a rec room. Have you ever designed new items in Home Crafter? | |
